Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man, has stated that if Ghana qualifies ahead of Nigeria, he will not attend the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

In March, the Black Stars will compete in the World Cup play-offs against West African rivals Nigeria.

The one who wins between the two will qualify for the tournament.

Due to the shared history of both countries, the game has been dubbed one of the continent’s most important games.

As a result, Dangote has urged the Super Eagles to make Nigerians proud.

He said this after seeing the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, where the match will be played.

 

The business magnate stated explicitly that if Nigeria does not qualify for the World Cup, he will not fly to Qatar to attend the match.

He was quoted saying : “It is not only important to me, but it is also important to all of us here, that is what will make us proud as Nigerians,” the businessman said.

“If Nigeria does not qualify [for the World Cup], I won’t go there [Qatar].”

“You can be rest-assured of our continued support. You can always knock on our doors,” Dangote told Sports Minister Sunday Dare.

He also promised to continue to help the country’s sports growth by complementing the government’s efforts.

“We shouldn’t allow our stadia to collapse.” he said.

“Nigerians have a very strong love for sports, so I think we need to complement Government’s efforts to ensure that everything works.” the business man added.

Ghana vs Nigeria: We will just have to wait and see what happens, as the first leg of the play between the two strong West African countries will be coming off in Ghana at the Kumasi (Babayara) Sports Staduim on in Friday, March 25, 2022.

The second leg will also come off in Nigeria on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 where the super eagles of Nigeria will be hosting the Black Stars of Ghana for their world cup qualifiers.
